My family has recently started to watch this show on TV call “Dr. Pimple Popper”. It is a reality show that follows the practice of a dermatologist and her weird and over the top cases. I guess you can say that one of the highlights of the show that my family enjoys is when the Doctor begins to squeeze these large cysts on people’s bodies. Some of them just look like the Doctor is popping a baseball size zit. It is pretty nasty, but for some crazy reason, it is hard not to watch. I find myself wondering how such nasty stuff can build up on someone’s body, but then I think of how we as humans and Christians let things build up in our lives that are worse than a visible cyst.
The patient’s on that show do creative things to hide their conditions. They use scarves, hats, and certain types of clothing to hide their problems, and that is exactly what we do with the sin in our lives. We use creative ways to hide it from the people around us. We want to appear as if we are flawless and without any blemishes, but the real truth is, we are hiding huge, nasty things that are much grosser than any cyst you would ever develop on your body.
The cool thing is that you don’t need to go to a Doctor for you sin; you go to the one that created those Doctors. You go to God. You go to God and ask Him to forgive you, and you ask that Jesus Christ become your Lord and Savior. Just as a Doctor gets rid of all the nasty stuff on your body, Jesus gets rid of all the nasty stuff in your life. I can only imagine how much relief a patient feels when they have a huge cyst popped on their body, can you imagine how much relief you will feel when your sins are forgiven?
