Happy Independence Day to all of you!

I am a very patriotic person and definitely love this country that I am blessed to live in and raise my kids in. Do we have issues and problems? Absolutely we do. But this is still the greatest country in the world to live.
I heard a news story about a month ago that actually made me laugh out loud. Kim Jong-un, the leader of North Korea, declared that mullets and skinny jeans were no longer allowed in North Korea! Without getting into a argument with anyone, and looking deeper into this then we should…..that story is just hilarious!!! What in the world happened to Kim that he woke up one morning and said that mullets and skinny jeans were no longer allowed? Now, I will be honest……I don’t disagree with him. Mullets? Come on!!! And the dumb skinny jeans get smaller and tighter every year, so he maybe has a good point.
But what is my point?
We live in an awesome country that we have freedom. Freedom to live our lives the way we choose. Whether you are a skinny jean wearing, mullet hair person or someone else, you have freedom to do whatever you want with in the law, wear whatever you want and style your hair however you want. You can do all of that because of our freedom we have in this country.
That freedom was not handed to us, it was bought at a huge price of many many lives, and I am thankful for that. In the last 245 years, we as a country have made a ton of mistakes and we will make many more. But we are still the greatest nation in this world.
There is another freedom that we can have. That freedom is being free from the bondage of sin. You see, God could have put us on this earth and told us exactly what to do and how to live. It would be like living under a ruler or dictator, but God chose to give every one of us freewill. That freewill allows us to live our lives and follow whatever we want. The problem that we all have, is that we often do the wrong things. Those wrong things are the sin we all have in our lives. The solution to that, is getting freedom from that sin. Just as our country’s freedom was bought with the price of lives, our freedom from sin is bought with a life. The life of Jesus Christ.
