I was doing a short mid-west tour last week and saw something that just cracked me up so much, that I laughed out-load in the truck!! I saw one of those electric billboards that states use to give traffic alerts say, “if you are in the left lane and not passing, you are a failure !!” Come on…..that is SO AWESOME!!! You know a middle age or older person programmed that!! It is true though!!
Now a days, this younger generation is “sensitive “and offended by pretty much ANYTHING!!! Things are so different in so many ways. I remember a few years ago, one of my kids came home from school and was upset because they bombed a test, but they were not all that upset because the teacher was going to let them take the test over until they got a better grade. I said “NO FREAKING WAY are you taking that over again. You failed the first time and that is now your grade, and you must work harder now to make things right”. I certainly wasn’t the favorite parent in the house that day, but seriously……the real world doesn’t work that way. If you fail in something, you fail and you must work very hard to make things right and fix things.
As I was driving last week and thinking about that sign, the reality of being a failure and getting second chances hit me very hard. It hit me hard because there is One that has given me millions of second chances because I am a failure. God is SO GOOD!!! I mess up every day. I drift out of the lane I should be in and run my life in the wrong lane and I am a failure in every way that God should see me, but…………God made a way for me to not be a failure, He made a way for me to be forgiven and seen as an excepted, forgiven and loved person. God gave us His Son Jesus.
Jesus died for those bad lanes I drive my life in sometime. He died for my failures. He died for yours too.
When you die, no matter who you are or what you have done, we will all face God at His throne. At that moment, there will be no second chances, there will be no do overs. You will be accepted or rejected. If you want that second chance, it comes right now!! It comes through a relationship with Jesus!
