All of the "ministry updates" and “what’s new” columns that I write are all about this ministry and how God uses us in awesome ways. If you ever really pay attention to how I write, you will always notice that I very rarely ever say “I” or “me”. God has truly blessed this ministry through the years and we wouldn’t even exist if it weren't for His blessings. We are humbled to be doing His will through the talents He has given us. But there is...

A few weeks ago, while I was on the road, I was at a restaurant eating lunch with a few people from the church I was playing at. When our waiter was at our table I was joking around with him and just having a good time. The waiter joked back a little but was very busy and couldn’t talk a lot. Towards the end of lunch while he was finishing up with us, someone from the church that was there with us invited him to the concert that night and he...

Don’t be mad at me for saying this, but the summer is over and the cooler weather should start coming soon!! I have played a lot of concerts in non-air conditioned cathedrals and done my share of outdoor concerts and I can surely say, I am thankful fall is coming. There is nothing fun about sweating through your clothes halfway thru your first song of an hour concert. NO FUN AT ALL !!!! This summer has been good in ministry and we have...

We live in such a high speed society these days. When we want something, we want it now!! From the invention of the microwave to the invention of the internet, we have made so many things in life come so fast that a lot of people don’t like to wait or work for anything anymore. People just want that instant gratification or an instant result. I can’t tell you how many people come up to me after concerts and ask me what they can do to be able to...

I love holidays, I really do, but sometimes they frustrate me. I think my frustration with holidays isn’t so much about the holiday itself as much as it is with people. You see, I get frustrated with people that need a holiday to remind them about what that holiday is all about. Take Valentine’s Day for example, I should NOT need one day a year to remind me to go out of my way to treat my wife extra special. Getting her flowers, a card, holding...

I often get asked “where is your favorite place you ever played?” I usually answer and say that I don’t have a favorite place, which is very true. Every place is unique in its own way. That’s what I love, that every place is a little different. Now…..I’m going to sound like I’m contradicting myself, but I recently had the opportunity to play at the opening ceremonies for the Special Olympics and it was AWESOME!! It was here in our home town in...

We just got back from a little ten day tour in the mid-west. I would love to say it was an awesome trip, but that would be a lie. The morning (3:45 am) I had to leave for a chapel service in Ohio, the trailer was blowing fuses on the truck and I couldn’t find the problem fast enough, so I left the trailer at home, drove to the chapel service in Ohio, played and drove the whole way back home. It took me a few hours to find a tiny little wire...

I guess it is a normal thing for us to go into an “auto pilot” mode sometimes in our lives. For us here, it is touring, office work, touring, office work, touring, office work, etc. Please don’t misunderstand me, I love what we do and I understand the importance of this ministry, but once in a while, life just runs on that auto pilot mode. In my devotions this morning, I was reading about how God called Abraham into service, and how God took...
